ONE RUN.
ONE REVOLUTION.
My name is Sohail Sardar, Chief Organiser of Born2Run Pakistan. This is the story of an idea that began with one runner at dawn in Karachi—and grew into a community determined to build a healthier Pakistan.
THE FIRST DAWN.
I began this journey alone in the City of Lights in July 2017, trying to turn a simple idea into a running movement.
When I started, many people rejected the idea. Some thought I was foolish for waking at 5:30 in the morning to run and train because it did not fit society’s usual patterns. At that time, there was no established group around me encouraging people to wake early, step outside and run.
Still, every dawn I ran—with the sky above me, the wind beside me and the track ahead. Then three individuals, inspired by an activity many considered strange in Pakistan, joined me. That was the beginning.
HEALTH BEFORE EVERYTHING.
My passion is to devote my life to health and fitness, and to make people aware of how important they are to a happier life.
I began providing free running training three times a week to those who joined me and wanted to live better. Whatever I earn, I spend on runners’ individual needs and on organising events that keep them motivated. Bringing happiness to others, helping them leave harmful habits behind and supporting their loftiest dreams gives me lasting joy.
My focus has always been the person who has never run before. Bringing a complete beginner onto the track is not easy, so I provide many training sessions to teach people to run correctly and reduce the chance of injury—while recognising that every sport carries some risk.
I work at my workplace throughout the day. From evening until midnight, I devote myself to giving people free training sessions.
FROM BEGINNERS TO RUNNERS.
The group expanded as more enthusiastic people joined. Some of those beginners grew into elite runners.
I approached brands to secure discounts for the group, helping members access better, more reliable gear so they could move safely and confidently on the track.
My family eventually noticed how much time I was giving to this work after my day job. When they asked, I told them I was running and training people for demanding races. I even told them I charged a fee—because I feared they would stop me if they knew I was doing it all for free.
With every passing second, I think about new ways to build awareness around running and grow this group for a healthier Pakistan. My heart and mind tell me that positive ideas always bring more positivity into life.

Members share happiness, encourage one another and gather under one roof—regardless of religion or background.
A COMMUNITY WITH PURPOSE.
I realised that Born2Run was not simply a running group. It had become a community—a family whose members share happiness and cheer for one another.
We have Muslims, Christians, Hindus and people of many faiths under the bonded roof we call Born2Run. We believe religion does not define the limits of our connection; our mentality and the way we treat one another do.
Born2Run also organised Pakistan’s first children’s half-marathon for participants aged 8 to 14, with the consent of their parents. The fastest child finished in 2 hours and 20 minutes—an achievement that stunned the country.
It is an honour to have trained more than 1,000 runners, most importantly without charging them. We provide shoes to those who cannot afford them, proper clothing to those who need it and financial help to people facing difficult circumstances, so hardship does not prevent them from joining Born2Run’s healthy activities. My ambition is the welfare of society.
ALTER THE HISTORY OF PAKISTAN.
My concept challenges typical social norms: not many people will train someone for free who has never run, then help transform that person into a record-breaking runner.
My motivation is to help Born2Run members become recognised international runners and alter the history of Pakistan. Today, Born2Run has grown into Pakistan’s largest running group, known by running communities around the world.
There are two kinds of people: those focused on accumulating wealth and philanthropists who give what they can for someone else’s betterment. A materialist may eat better, but a philanthropist sleeps better—with lasting satisfaction.
Anyone can help a good runner become an average runner, but not everyone can turn a person sitting at home into a runner. This is my vision and my success story. You do not need money to fulfil your dreams; you need abundant enthusiasm and motivation.
THE JOURNEY IS STILL RUNNING.
What started with one runner at dawn now belongs to everyone who chooses health, community and the courage to begin.
